This is yet another blog about software engineering, technology and stuff beyond written by Andreas Heil, a software engineer from Karlsruhe, Germany.

After traveling allover the word, he currently works in a product development team back in Karlsruhe, Germany. Before he used to be several years with Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK in the Intelligent Environments group within the External Research Office and lately in the Technology Group of the Computatonal Science Lab. Before joining Microsoft Research he was part of the Academic Program within the Developer and Platform Evangelism group at Microsoft Germany.

Andreas holds a diploma in computer science from the University of Karlsruhe (TH) (lately know as KIT) where he specialized on Software Engineering and Web Engineering. He followed his interest in Web Engineering and studied for his PhD at the Chemnitz University of Technology in Saxony, Germany founded by the Microsoft PhD Scholarship Programe. In 2005 he was founding member of the International Society for Web Engineering e.V. where he was elected as vice chairman in 2010.

During his work for Microsoft, he used to spoke at various Microsoft conferences and events such as various product launch tours, Microsoft TechFest and PDC but also for various international events and conferences. With Microsoft he worked together with various product teams such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, Microsoft Robotics Studio and Microsoft Office and currently holds five patent applications.

Beside many research papers he published more than 40 professional articles within the field of software development with Microsoft technologies mostly in the German professional magazine dotnetpro.
